As we step into a new year, it's a time to pause and reflect on the many things we hold close to our hearts. January has a unique way of ushering in moments of quiet reflection, often inviting us to be grateful for the blessings we've experienced and the lessons we've learned. Gratitude isn't just about acknowledging the good—it’s about finding beauty in the everyday, in the moments both big and small. It’s the warm embrace of family around the dinner table, the joy of harvesting what we've sown, and the quiet peace of early mornings on the farm. Gratitude connects us to what truly matters: the earth beneath our feet, the people who walk alongside us, and the simple moments that often go unnoticed.
There’s something powerful about expressing gratitude—about taking a step back and saying, “I see you, I appreciate you.” Whether it's in the stillness of the morning or the hustle and bustle of a busy day, gratitude has the power to ground us. It reminds us that despite challenges, there is always something to be thankful for. This practice helps us remain present, finding beauty in even the hardest of times. It keeps us rooted in the joy of small things, like the warmth of a cup of coffee or the sun breaking through the clouds on a cold winter morning.
As I reflect on gratitude this January, I’m also reminded of how deeply the farming community embodies this mindset. From the harvest to the everyday work on the farm, there is a sense of thankfulness in the cycles of nature. It’s a connection to the past and the future, a reminder of the land that nourishes us and the people who work tirelessly to make sure it does.
Speaking of moments of recognition, I’m beyond grateful and excited to share that two of my agricultural images have been selected for the 2025 Seedlife Calendar! May features a striking shot of a farmer spraying corn, capturing the hard work and dedication behind each season. July showcases a close-up of wheat seeds, highlighting the beauty and promise of the harvest. It’s a true honor to see my work celebrated in such a meaningful way, and I am thankful for the opportunity to capture and share these moments that speak to the heart of farming life.
As we enter this new year, may we all find moments to pause and express our gratitude for the things that ground us—whether it’s the land we walk on, the work we do, or the people who make it all worthwhile. Here’s to another year of growth, both on the farm and in our hearts.
