Giving Old Farm Equipment New Life –
The Making of a Rake Wheel Chandelier
From rust to radiance, this one-of-a-kind chandelier was crafted from retired farm equipment, giving old materials a second life with a creative twist.
The centerpiece of this stunning light fixture is a weathered rake wheel that was carefully preserved in its original rustic glory. While keeping its aged charm, I treated the wheel to prevent further rust and oxidation, ensuring its longevity. This piece brings a touch of history and character into any space.
Adding to the charm, I paired the wheel with vintage ball mason jars, complete with their original glass tops and wire closures. I carefully drilled holes in the tops of the jars, ensuring the wiring would fit snugly while keeping the inside sealed from any flying critters. The LED bulbs inside offer a warm glow without the risk of overheating the jars.
Suspended from sturdy rafters by clevis, chain, and an old horse/ox wooden yoke, this chandelier is not just a lighting fixture—it's a true statement piece that brings rustic industrial vibes to life.
It's all about repurposing, reimagining, and showing that with a little creativity, even the most worn-out farm tools can shine again.
